SABA

Michael Gerstman a.k.a Meier Gersztman a.k.a saba, was my grandfather who was also a holocaust survivor. As a person who had to suffer from all the horrors that came with that, he managed to create an amazing and successful life for himself and his family. He went from zero to hero, literally. My grandfather is my big inspiration for this collection because as a holocaust survivor, something I cannot mention enough, he showed strength, power and perseverance and he became fearless to the small problems in life.

He never wanted to hide what he went through, he was proud of being a survivor which is what I wanted to convey with this collection dedicated to him: strength, power and perseverance. Having a dark and hard past shouldn’t be hidden, and he carried that dark past with him everyday and was never ashamed.

Stripes. The past in the Holocaust

Red. Love and passion but also violence and destruction as well; it was also his favorite color

Flowers. Blooming and growth but also death

My grandmother was my grandfather’s muse in life which is why I’ve decided to make this a womenswear collection. I am not designing for him but in his name. I want anyone who desires to wear these clothes to wear them with one simple rule: wear it with confidence and power.
